TOP Beauty : Empties Review - Lancome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl

TOP Beauty : Empties Review - Lancome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl

I have been Lancome's biggest fan since very young, and even though I have branched out using lots of different brands since started working, I always have one or two favourites from Lancome in my skincare/makeup collection. In the past year, I have used two to three bottles of this Lancome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl as my eye serum, and for me it has been the love of the year for eye serums!

This little bottle has a lot of products inside, and every morning and night I pair this with whichever eye cream that I'm using at that moment, but for me I like it's particular soothing effect on the eyes, because of the roller ball applicator, it's like giving a little massage to the eyes day and night. It is particularly effective when I have long working hours, it's extra soothing on those days.

Here's a little video from Lancome on how to use it :

Another reason why I love this eye serum so much, is because they use it in their eye-facial at Lancome Beauty Institute , it just shows how much it can do even the professionals at their own Lancome Beauty Institute use it on their clients.

If you have puffy eyes, tired eyes, this is the eye serum for you. I'm definitely repurchasing this after I finish all the new serums I have on hand.... (shopaholic problems...)

TOP Beauty : Empties Review - Clarins Double Serum

TOP Beauty : Empties Review - Clarins Double Serum

I have been using this product for about 4+ months, day and night and now to the very last drop. The Clarins Double serum is a Hydric + Lipidic system, meaning two serums at once. I didnt study the science behind it, it is always the result at the end that makes you know if it has worth every penny of your money.

The Clarins Double Serum definitely did not disappoint me, I used it till it was down to the very last drop, and what I like about it was that it wasn't overtly thick, when you use it your skin absorbs it very quickly, and in the morning it's very nice cause you really feel it firming the skin.  After I finished using it, I found out it was awarded the Marie Claire Excellence Award 2013 for greater China, which proves many women in China agrees with me on it's miracle.

It is Clarin's long term product and I'm sure I would be rethinking of it, but now, I think I need to move on to the whitening products and be prepared for summer :)

TOP Beauty : PHYTO Phytolaque Design Botanical Finishing Spray

PHYTO : Phytolaque Design Botanical Finishing Spray

Phyto, the botanical hair brand has came up with a new nature friendly hairspray! The brand believes deeply in the power of plants, and that your hair is a part of your body and you should use harmless  substances on it! The brand's founder, Patrick Ales is the inventor of the blow-dry, and he deeply believes that great products will help with the perfect hairstyles.

Phyto held an event at Airplay in Central,  with macaroons from sift for our tastebuds and also a dried flower/herb station for us to pack little scent bags home, reminding us how great it is to have something natural smelling around you, how nice!

I am a personal fan of the Phyto hair products for quite some time already, however I do buy it when I travel to Europe cause it isn't as popular in Hong Kong. The orange label one - Phytocitrus is my favourite,  I use it after I have my hair coloured to lock it all in.

Phyto's International Education Manager, Jean talks to us a little bit about the brand, the products and the origins of the blow dry.

and here comes the star products of this event.
1) Phytodefrisant - Botanical Straightening Balm @ hkd220
2) Phytovolume Actif : Volumising Spray @hkd 250
(which I have been using for quite a while too!!)
3) Phytokeratine : Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray @hkd 250
4) Phytolaque : Botanical Finishing Spray @hkd150 - the star star product of this event.

and with the help from the girls at Airplay and also the star products, see the results on Miss L and I yourself...

So what do you guys think? I am loving the PhytoKeratine the airplay girls use on me, look how raw looking my hair can be without it!

P.S. Another thing I really like about the phyto products is that it doesn't have that weird disgusting herbal smell, i tried using another famous botanical hair brand before (you can ask me privately!) and my mom said my hair smells like old women's powder oil!

Phyto is now for sale in many outlets, in Mannings, City Super, Watson, Sasa, JJ Cosmetics and Gentlemen's Tonic.

So are you yay or nay for botanical hair products?

TOP Beauty : John Masters Organics 2014 product launch

TOP Beauty : John Masters Organics 2014 product launch

John Masters Organics, a well known organics brand that's for sale in the big department stores like Lane Crawford, Harvey Nichols etc, the launch has a few sections, a gallery, an experience zone and a freshness corner.

The experience zone has all the products of the line, also hairstylists and product specialists that go through product by product with you.

Here is the range, the three new targeted products are the Spearmint & meadowsweet scalp stimulating shampoo($275/236ml) ; the green tea & calendula leave in conditioning mist ($335/59ml)  ; deep scalp purifying serum. ($400/125ml)  The range focuses on Cleanse, Treat and Stimulate, a three step process for good hair.

I like sniffing stuff, as you can tell.... :)

The products were beautifully displayed in the gallery, with plants and wood. There is a good master tip from that day, the Spearmint & meadowsweet scalp stimulating shampoo($275/236ml) can be used in a few ways - for daily cleanse it can be used to activate head scalp activity, for deep treatment use two to three times a week just for a deep cleanse, and for every half year treatment, use it in april and september, and also the weeks when hormone changes during the month, when hair loss increases :)

In the gallery,  the illustrator drew pictures of guests, here's mine!

and for Freshness Corner, we get to enjoy organic veggie salads and green tea roll cake!  It was a very nice touch to have some organic freshness bought to the table, and also just to remind us how many different ways we can live our life organically!

TOP Beauty : Clinique Whitening Line 2014

TOP Beauty : Clinique Whitening Line/ New Products for  2014

The beauty world has been buzzing with exciting new products ever since after CNY, and girlsontop is back and active to try new things out! Last week, we went to the Clinique Launch for this year's exciting new whitening line and also some very floral makeup products.

The new whitening line has 4 updated products, the big new seller for this event is Clinique Even Better Essence Lotion ($330/100ml), then there's the Even Better Brightening Moisture Cream Plus ($290/50ml), the Even Better Brightening Moisture Mask ($380/100ml) and lastly my favourite, the Even Better Dark Spot Defence ($300/30ml).

Another new product is Clinique's perfume Calyx, it has a nice grapefruit scent which is quite perfect and spring like, very mood boosting i must say. ($450/50ml and $610/100ml)

Flower cotton candy at the event!

The inside was decorated with all white flowers, hydrengeas to be more exact, and gives a really nice floral accent to the atmosphere.

The star product : Clinique Even Better Essence Lotion Concentrate, there's two, one for dry to very dry skin, one for normal skin. It promises with four weeks use it will brighten up your skin, I tested it it feels quite light, like a normal toner, but I do believe it takes a lot of consistency to get it working.

The event was great with petit savoury food and lots of girls time to try products.  Look at my happy face!

Last but not least, makeup range is visibly floral and spring, the cheek pop blushes ($180) have indention of flowers, and the colours are very light and easy to wear. but what I like more, is the presentation ....

How can anyone resist such floral presentation? I'm not sure about the shocking light blue eyeshadow, but blushes.. yes!

TOP Beauty : Empties review - Estee Lauder Cyber White EX Eye Creme

TOP Beauty : Empties review - Estee Lauder Cyber White EX Eye Creme

Eye cremes are one of those things which are really hard to test and tell you if it's effective or not, so it is always very hard for me to review. This estee lauder eye creme comes in a rather hard cream texture, very much like "餓羅立英" (i know that is not the correct word but it's what it's called.) For an eye creme, I don't find it extra soothing on the eyes, its just.. average if I must say. The whitening part is a little confusing too, cause with SPF 15+ you expect it to be a day eye cream, but when you talk to the staff counters they said there's only one in the whitening range and you should use it at night too cause that's when your body starts killing the pigments. Anyways, I did go through the whole jar with no problem, but was it a WOW and did it do a lot that I would repurchase? not really...

For me personally, I like the other Estee Lauder eye cremes than this one, I would much prefer to stick with the Advance Night Repair eye or the Advance Anti Wrinkle which I personally think is a lot better than this one.

Too bad! disappointment this time.

P.S.... I'm in London now, and really wanted to post big ben to continue the landmark scrapbook, but it's raining cats and dogs here, so we can forget about it.... but I will give you this....

SNOG!!!!!!

TOP Beauty : Only in Paris - Mavala Nail Polish Remove Pads

TOP Beauty : Only in Paris - Mavala Nail Polish Remove Pads

So, as you can tell from the title I am currently in Paris, and OBVIOUSLY I did a little drug store haul. Pharmacies are everywhere in Paris, actually all through Europe, just like our SaSa's in HK, but I always think Paris pharmacies has hidden gems more than anywhere in Europe.  Because I have family living in Paris, of course I asked them to take me to the ones which are the cheapest, has the most stock, and weird finds. So, my lovely cousin Ansly took me to City Pharma, which is a huge pharmacy packed with lots of people, young, old, hip, chic. you name it. I bought quite a lot there (very guilty right now) and I hope I would be good and keep posting about what I got, but here's what I tested yesterday.

Mavala, is a nail product specialist which I heard of before from reading other beauty blogs, but what really pushed me to get these was that I was desperate to remove the all the chipped Revelon Parfumerie Winter Mint which by the way has great lasting powers, it didn't start chipping after like the 10th day of my travel. Anyways, I actually saw these in Brussels first, and they were for sale for 11 euros in one pharmacy, and 7.9 euros in XX Paris, and I finally made the move to buy it at City Pharma when it was 5 euros. Now, I know the packaging is really granny and dull, but never judge a book by it's cover right....

So inside this little pot you have thirty very thin pads, they are not massively soaking wet and what you do is you use each piece and hold it for 2 seconds or so to remove nail polish. because the winter mint was a sparkly shimmery nail polish, it took me two pads to remove all the polish on both hands. I must say when i first used it I thought it was a little weird, cause it gives out this oil, but I think this has to do with it nourishing the nails and not stripping it off like crazy - it says acetone free on the package.

Overall, I am super impressed with this, and it's going to be great for travelling, but I will only buy it in Paris as its 5 euros here, and I think paying 7 or 11 euros for 30 removal pads is just too much. I am so going to stock up again today if I pass by city pharma again.

and of course, what is Paris without the Eifle tower?
in case you were wondering where City Pharma is, this is the address : - 26 rue du Four
75006 Paris Neighborhoods: Saint-Germain-Des-Prés, 6ème

TOP Beauty : Empties review - Clarins Cleansing Milk [Normal or dry skin]

TOP Beauty : Empties review - Clarins Cleansing Milk [Normal or dry skin]

First of all, apologies for being completely MIA this past month or so. With Christmas and New Years flying by,  I can't believe it is almost till the end of January. I have been travelling the whole month since the beginning of 2014, and right now I'm in Belgium. yep, the land of chocolate, oo-lala!! I hope that during the time I've been away,  you have seen our express beauty posts on our Girls on TOP Facebook page. and also checked out Zafran the new tapas bar in town review here.

Anyways, back to business. This year, I have made the resolution to try as many products as possible, and to burn down many products as possible. Meaning I have to be extra adventurous and also be a good and obedient skin care addict, and just that with it being an empties post will make you understand that it is good enough that I will use till the very last drop.

For a good 2 months or so, I have been using this Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs for Normal or dry skin. This product is a soft, gentle daily cleanser which is in a green milk form.. I know it sounds a bit weird that it's green but if you can by pass that, then it's fine. Like many other cleansing milk, this one is soft, delicate, and what I like the most is that it works quite well on irritated skin, and I find that it is quite a good product for winter months as it is not drying. What I do like about this product is that despite it's a 200ml bottle (some cleansing milk go way supersize nowadays), it doesn't run out quickly and you literally need one quirt each wash for the whole face.

Overall, I think this is a product definitely worth repurchasing when I run out of cleansing milk, but not one that I need it OMG right now. For daily wash, I would highly recommend people with normal to dry skin to use it, as it does a good decent job.

TOP Beauty : La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask

TOP Beauty : La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask

A while back back I received this gorgeous jar of La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask and has always been waiting for the great big moment to use this luxurious product.. (yep acting just like a little girl here..) and yesterday, I finally decided to open it as it could have possibly been the coldest driest day in 2013 in Hong Kong. So here goes my open-box and review for this product.

The luxurious sleeping mask comes in a sturdy 50ml size with the signature la prairie box in silver finish, it's quite a good size bottle for the price in my opinion. The great thing about this mask is not only it can give full moisture, but also ease stress, nervousness and pressure that can deepen the look of wrinkles. Basically it helps your skin plunge back to the best state when you are having your beauty sleep.

Inside like all La Prairie product, there is the product seal at the top. Inside it also comes with a set of instruction cards telling you how to apply and what to keep in mind.

This is how the La Prairie sleep mask actually looks like, it comes with a soft brush (that is dyed blue which I love cause it matches the bottle), it is for you to use with application and I think it would be a great travel size foundation or cream blusher blush after you have finished the sleep mask.

I love it cause it's dyed blue! A little key to remember is every time you use the brush to apply the cream, do wash it out with soap or water immediately and leave it to dry. One little tip I can give is lay the brush flat to dry before putting it back in the stand so water doesn't go inside the handle of the brush.

The product itself is very creamy, it has a pleasant "women" smell which helps to calm the skin. The product has benefits like helping with hydration boost, minimise fine lines, but also supports the natural firming and collagen protective activity during sleep.  So basically, this is your helping hand when you are having your beauty sleep.

The "morning-after" face : This is me after using it last night, my skin feels quite pumped up and back to the best state I can have, this product can't be used on eyes so ignore the eye bags. but overall, I am really satisfied with this product, it gives a good recovery booster when needed. Considering I have been working for more than 14 days straight and wearing makeup indoors and outdoors with the rain and wind, this is really good result that can help me recharge my skin battery.

Here is Yancy's TEST Review:

T (Texture) : Excellent, not too runny, not too harsh, just right for an overnight mask.
E (Effectiveness) : 5/5!
S (Smell) : very pleasant smell, nothing too harsh to make it hard for your to sleep.
T (Tips) : The morning after you might have some "rubber bits" on your face, don't worry it will come off if you have a damp cloth to wipe your face in the morning.

Beauty Sleep has never been better! I've decided to use it more often this christmas, not as emergencies!
