Yancy's Review : Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream

Kiehl's has launched an ultra facial oil free gel cream this summer.
Its brand new blue translucent packaging distinguishes it from the other little kiehl's product.

I personally like how it is paraben free & oil free.
It has ingredients inside it that can lock the moisture in your skin like a cactus plant. 

Now for a little test..

this is how gel the texture is,
I would say it is about the same texture as Nars Aqua Gel

how it looks like when you first apply, light and airy

how it is after 3 mins, under air-conditioning. 
Almost all absorbed!

Overall I'm quite impressed with this product.
It's very light-weighted, and it does absorb well into the skin.
One thing I do have to comment is that it does have little "tissue bits" rubbing off,
but I realise that if you leave it on for up to 10 mins,
it will absorb totally and leave your skin feeling quite fresh and energetic.
It's definitely a good choice for HK's weather when you don't want to feel sticky!

L's Review : Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution

Ever since i bought my favourite toy hada crie from japan some months ago,
I use it to apply every product I have in step 4,
including this time for the try out of kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution.

Testing period: 3 weeks

Anticipation: Diminish dark spot and even out skin tone without major break-outs

Application: full face at night (5 drops); one drop per pimple scar in the morning (two drops)

Sensation: Very light fluid gel, not thick,

Smell like thai spa!

First-time Verdict: 

After step 1-3 using hada crie with toner,
I apply kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution to both cheeks, forehead,
nose and chin one drop after the other starting from the right cheek.
It feels good, smells nice but my skin absorbs it quite slow.
So i took my time massaging the solution in on both cheek n forehead.
 
When it comes to the nose, my hada crie stops!!! (I'm way too chill? I don't know why)
so I use my finger tip to apply the remaining two drops to my nose n chin
and it feels more sticky on those two areas.
Maybe the solution hasn't been absorbed by my skin yet?
Anyway, it feels quite nice and fresh overall, and there is no major break out after a night,
so this test will carry on for 20 more nights...

* After reading L's article,
I was a bit worried as my partner-in-crime got the steps of hada crie WRONG.
Of course step 3 and step 4 does a "pump in" job,
but apparently she used step 1-3 with toner and step 4 with treatment...
where will this take you, L?
And her hada crie stopped cause there's not enough liquid to generate the ion pump action.
Overall, this is a very good try of L's first beauty review!
Hope we cleared your (her) mistake at the same time too...

Secrets to keep the well-brewed coffee...

By instant cooling or shock cooling - 

Pour the coffee into a small glass with two ice cubes

or

Blend the ice with coffee and milk

For espresso -
shake the coffee hard with plenty of ice inside a large or Boston shaker

 *coffee cooling is important
because long cooling process will make the coffee bitter and difficult to combine

Secrets to the perfect frothed milk...

It resembles something similar to lightly whipped cream instead of bath foam

Do not under-steamed (60c) or over-steamed (72c)

Tips for home barista

1. For machines - cool down boiling water for a few degrees

to increase aroma and reduce bitterness

2. For filters - firstly pour hot water over to let the ground beans to steep,

then pour the remaining water gently over he beans.

Keep the coffee moist by adding water little by little, ensuring a constant drip.

3. Try bottles water instead of tap water -

different hardness and PH value means different finesse of flavours

4. Do not leave coffee exposed to a heat source,

choose a preheated thermal flask instead

5. Purchase freshly roasted beans to increase aroma & grind the beans

as close to consumption as possible

Today L and I finally got some time to attend an event together,
which is a preview of Japanese fashion designer Atsuro Tayama FW13/14
and his crossover makeup bags with Fancl.
This event was hosted in the afternoon in Festival Walk,
one of the premium shopping malls in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

We were pretty excited to see the beautiful winter clothes from A/T.

The fun fact is that Mr. Tayama, the designer of A/T,
actually worked for Yohji Yamamoto before he started A/T!

Latte art is supposed to look and taste good, I believe,
as I'm more a fan of flavour, texture and taste.
Luckily enough, we get to meet the master who shared the same opinion.

TOP girls: How do you like your coffee to be served?

Peter: Expresso - There are different layers in an expresso even if you only see black under the cream.
With time, the build up and taste will change,
so i like to swirl it and mix it to keep the flavour balanced.

Latte - Nowadays, baristas like to use a big nice round cup to do latte art
because you can put a lot of pictures in it.
However, you will lose the creaminess and mouthful taste of latte cream
which I considered the best in latte.
I rather use a normal coffee cup.

TOP girls: What does latte art meant to you? 

Peter: I use it for extra communication.
Normally the chef will not do it because -

1. It takes time

2. You need to have a fast hand before the milk separates 

By doing the extra touch,
it shows my skills and passion towards coffee.

On a side note, Peter is caffeine fragile just like us,
meaning we are a little bit more sensitive to coffee,
and more lattes mean less sleep :D
